The Paliki region<\/strong>\u00a0is a peninsula, located in the western part of the island, and is very different from the rest of Kefalonia, with a unique morphology of organised flat farmland, a dramatic dry, rocky west coast with numerous beautiful beaches, some with red sand and clay cliffs, rocky coves and unique sunset views.<\/p>

There are 18 villages on the peninsula of Paliki, notably (C)havdata, Atheras, Chavriata, Livadi, and Damoulianata. Here you could find some of the most well-known beaches on the island; Xi, Megas Lakos, Petani, and Atheras. There are many places to eat on Paliki peninsula dotted around the beaches and villages. The main square, the coast and the paved central road in\u00a0Lixouri\u00a0has many choices of cafes and a few tavernas.<\/p>

The major town of\u00a0Lixouri\u00a0<\/strong>is situated across the gulf from Argostoli \u2013 ferries constantly shuttle between the two towns \u2013 it\u2019s worth exploring Lixouri\u2019s laid back square and harbour front caf\u00e9 scene. It\u2019s a lively town\u00a0with all the necessary services, a variety of good restaurants and bars, a market, bank, pharmacies, public services and hospital, and some claim that the nightlife here is more exciting than Argostoli!<\/p>

What certainly is worth doing is taking the ferry to Argostoli. You will sail across the bay of Argostoli and from the boat you will have a beautiful view of the coastal towns but also Katavothres and the lighthouse of Agioi Theodoroi. Lixouri, was completely destroyed in 1953 after an earthquake, has since been rebuilt and is actually a modern city. The Carnival is visited by many Greeks from the mainland and is an important tradition here.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

The villa is situated in Havdata, <\/b>set in\u00a0the countryside, about a 15 minute drive from Lixouri. Havdata (or sometimes Chavdata) Is a quiet location, and most of the land is used for farming – either sheep, or olives and citrus fruit.<\/p>

There are two minimarkets within a 10 minute walk selling a variety of groceries, medicines and other day-to-day goods.
